Improving Body Function: Posture, Food Choices, & More

Improving Body Function: Posture, Food Choices, & More

Hello Everyone, Dr. Casen and Dr. Bob coming to you from Westlake, and we are so excited to share with you how we can help to improve function naturally in your body without drugs.

Here are the three top takeaways for you within the video (watch below):

Number one: For us, we are chiropractors, so number one, we're working on your brain and your spinal cord. And what's really interesting, right now with stress and everything else going on, so many people today, they have this forward posture.

Maybe you don't look at your posture, but we want to encourage you right now, start looking at people's posture. And, do you have a tendency to slouch? That's one of the biggest things that we're seeing with our students and our kids right now. Whether they're in sports or they have heavy backpacks, literally every inch your head goes forward it's one bowling ball of pressure on your spinal cord.

So, we take images, we take X-rays of the spine and we can actually evaluate how your spine's moving or not moving. So, if you've never had your spine evaluated through X-rays, through films, I encourage you to schedule an appointment, especially if you have young kids. Your spine is not completely grown until you're 22.

Number two: What did you eat for breakfast, lunch, dinner? What do you have planned for this week whenever you're watching us for your kids and your family? What have you prepared already for this week for that fuel in your body? It's literally like you're filling up your rocket ship.

What's kind of interesting is that most people eat between 12 and 15 foods. And this individual right here, every night they have a heavy shot of espresso with heavy cream and sugar-free vanilla syrup. You can see, every night they had that. And so, then also, so we're not here to say what food is a good or a bad food, but there's something called a nightshade: tomatoes, potatoes, eggplant and green pepper. We’re not saying they're good or bad, but there's some people that have issues with nightshades, and you can see I have circled Dr. C that they had potatoes every night.

Number three: The liver is such a key organ. We do breast thermography in the office and the breasts drain into the armpit which drains into the liver. So, we know that if a woman has congestion in the armpit area they have potential to have some liver distress also compounding that.

We know that the liver's the main filter in the body. But, you know, Dr. Casen, I wrote a book on preventing surgery, and one of the chapters in there is about spinal surgery. And I talk about the liver. We literally see the liver go down to a person's pelvis. So, if you have a liver that's not functioning optimally it can cause back pain.

Ladies, do you have tender breasts, heavy menses? Body signals that your liver might not be functioning optimally. And gentlemen, if you're having any kind of prostate issue, your liver has to process estrogen for you also. So the liver is just one of many, many organs in the body that can impact individual health.

- And what's really interesting as we're talking about prevention, and I was thinking about this today, Dr. Bob, as we were reviewing some of these breast thermography results, it's such an illusion for you if you have low risk at something or if you're going to get your blood test done once a year. Think of how much can happen in your life, whether it's a change overall in your responsibilities, stress, activities, foods, over time those factors can contribute to other things which could be a compromised immune system, low energy, brain fog, mental health, Dr. Bob. It's all connected. So, whether it's ourselves or someone else in your life, you really wanna have a consistent wellness strategy.

With chiropractic, with nutrition, breast thermography, something that you're continually working on these habits, because it does not happen overnight and you can't expect to be happy and healthy long term if you're not really working on these habits overall.

Why don't you give them some final thoughts, Dr. Casen?

So, number one, look at your posture. Check out to see how your body's functioning on the inside. I know Dr. Bob and I talked about food choices. So start looking at what you are preparing this week for your breakfast, lunch, and dinner. And if you need tips go ahead and look at our YouTube channels and our social media. And lastly, in regards to your liver health, if you do have these body signals, consider scheduling an appointment in our office or look us up online on druglessdoctor.com on our global website. Contact us today for an appointment.

And we are talking to you about one of the most popular things I think, every month, every year, Dr. Bob, and it is women's health. And I know you have been so blessed and we've been so blessed to be able to use your book as a resource for all of these ladies and all of the stories that we hear. And I know that you're emailing us, Facebooking us.

We have so many questions on your "Ask Dr. Bob", and a lot comes down to the basics, Dr. Bob, of how our body works. And maybe you could be having different body signals in your body right now, whether it's tenderness in your breasts, a heavy menstrual flow, overall, maybe difficulty losing weight, or you're tired, and you're-

- Depressed,

- Depressed.

- Anxiety, constipation, low energy.

- And I was just working with a woman with veins on her legs. And she's having all of these really, really painful procedures that she's having done. And it all goes to the root of how your body's working or not working. So, let's start, Dr. Bob, with the liver and tell us the big idea of how it all works together.

- Well, the liver is probably the most important key when it comes to everybody's health, but especially women's health. So, this is a model of the liver. This is what our normal liver would look like, and Dr. Casen, you want to hold that for me? This would be a fatty liver. You hear so much about fatty liver. And in our practice today, we take films standing up. So we'll see large livers. Your liver should stop around the bottom of your right rib on the right side, the lower rib. And if it extends past that, which we do see a lot of people's ribs go way down to their abdomen. That's not necessarily a good sign. This is a very severely damaged liver, usually oftentimes from alcohol. We're going to flip the liver over and I want you to see the gallbladder is there. Now, the gallbladder is a reservoir of bile. Your liver makes bile, so think of bile as your dish detergent in your body. So it emulsifies fat, but if you consume maybe too much alcohol, and you're taking a lot of medications, maybe even a lot of fruit, and you're placing a demand on your liver, you'll get thick pasty bile, and you're gonna have potential with some gallbladder issues. Now, Dr. Casen just mentioned about the lady with the vein issue. So this big blue area right here, this is called the vena cava. So we have a superior and an inferior vena cava. So blood flows from your veins, from your veins up through your liver on the way to your heart. So if this liver is compromised, from whatever reason, there'll be a backup, and that is a vein issue, hemorrhoids and spider veins, Dr. Casen.

- And then what's really interesting is, okay, I'm going to give this back to you here. When your liver's plugged up, we have this tool in our office called Breast Thermography. And what happens is, if your liver's not properly processing everything, it can actually back up into your lymphatic system. And then we see increased temperature in your breasts as inflammation, fibrocystic tissue. Overall, we also see increased estrogen in your body,

- Yeah.

- Whether it's in your breasts, or other areas, Dr. Bob, I know,

- Heavy flow.

- Flow. And I think tying this all together, when we talk about women's health, and I wrote "Dr. Bob's Drugless Guide to Balancing Female Hormones." I'd encourage you to look at it and get it because you're going to learn how all these pieces interchange with each other. So this happens to be the uterus, and this is the vagina, and these are the ovaries right here. So, if your liver is compromised and you have excessive estrogen, you have a greater chance to have a fibroid or a tumor in your uterus. If also, Dr. Casen briefly talked about breast health, we also know that if you don't have enough iodine in your body, you can have cysts on your ovaries. And a lot of times you don't have enough iodine, you have a low thyroid. Body signals for a low thyroid include cold hands, cold feet, thinning hair, high cholesterol, constipation, morning headaches. So, we know that all of these organs are so important and they interchange with each other.

- And it starts at a young age, so you might be thinking, "Oh my goodness, I have a daughter or a granddaughter." And when we start working with our kids in our office, it's amazing when a female first gets her menstrual cycle, if she has a irregular cycle, or tender breasts, or a heavy flow, Dr. Bob, the traditional solution for a young girl like that is to be put on some type of birth control.

- And that just compounds the problem. And they'll never get off of that. So, we know that the liver is really important. If you live anywhere in the United States and you can't have, if someone's not willing to service you, you really should come and visit us either here in Westlake or in our Naples office. And we take our films standing up. This is so, so important. Now, a couple other thoughts when it comes to women's health, we see a lot of ladies today that may have issues, and it's not just women, but with depression and anxiety, especially postpartum depression, which means after you have your baby. Well, we'll do a blood test called the Omega Test. And one of the oils we look for is DHA, because your oils are depleted, especially after baby number two. And we have seen that you can have depression issues because of the wrong oil. And we also talked a little bit about the thyroid gland and iodine. So let me give you this, because I wrote also "Dr. Bob's Drugless Guide to Mental Health." The adrenal glands make adrenaline. Your body uses something called tyrosine, which is an amino acid, to make adrenaline. Tyrosine is a natural anti-depressant. Tyrosine and iodine make thyroid hormone. So you could have adrenal stress, low thyroid, and depression all wrapped up in one because of stress. And Dr. Casen, myself, and Dr. Anthony, you know, our combined time working together on the planet, we have over 65 years of experience. And all three of us will tell you, the last year has been the most amazing year in our practice because these people have all kinds of stuff because of anxiety and worry. And anxiety and worry, by the way, impacts the spleen. The kidneys, fear; lungs are sadness, you have a cough, then you have sadness. But you can have anxiety and worry, which impacts the spleen, which impacts the lymphatic system. It's a big puzzle, isn't it?

- It is, and the good news is, we're your puzzle

- Solvers!

- Solvers!

- So, I know all these body signals, you're watching us, you can rewatch us, but the great news is, even in the last year, Dr. Bob, it's so amazing to see kids and families improve without drugs.

- Without drugs.

- Through chiropractic and nutrition, and some love. A lot of you, maybe just need some more love in your life and someone to really go step-by-step with you.

- We do hug. So we've hugged a lot of people that really have needed it because they don't know where to go. So we're here to help you. I'm Dr. Bob DeMaria, this is Dr. Casen DeMaria. Look forward to seeing you in our office. Thank you so much.

- Bye!

Breast Thermography: Spring 2020

Hi Everyone!

During this time, we are here to support you. Your Breast Thermography visit is very important to us, and I hope it is to you as well.

The team at The Drugless Doctors are following all health and government guidelines; however, here are a few more pre-appointment tips that can make your session with me both quick and easy:

  1. Any questions you may have will be answered at your consultation.

  2. If you would prefer not to wear a robe – wear something that you can easily take off (or drop-down) – so your body will be easily uncovered to your waist.

  3. Bring your own hairpins, accessories, while remembering all hair has to be off the neck. We will have some for use, but I know you might feel more comfortable having your own apparel.

  4. Think about putting your jewelry in an envelope before coming in so you may put back on once you are back in your car.

These first three tips are essential to note and I desire to make your experience smooth and straightforward for you to have the best experience there is.

Here are some additional recommendations before your session:

-No matter if this is your first or 15th breast thermography session, you need to review the “What You Need to Know” sheet. There are always new tips added – and following these guidelines will bring clarity and the right thumbprint to your pictures.

-Please arrive at least 5 minutes before your scheduled appointment. Often I am ready for you, I am very conscious of being on time for both you and the next person after you. I will do my best to have you in and out and on your way.

-MOST IMPORTANT: come with your paperwork all filled out and ready.

If, for some reason, you do not have them that day with you, we will have documents for you to fill out at the front desk, but you must inform the front desk associate; this will add to your appointment time – so please be there 15 minutes ahead of the scheduled time. This gives you time to think about your answers and fill out with the most clarity.

Short Cuts for Forms

  • First Breast Thermography, OR Yearly Scan: Fill out all paperwork, remembering to sign and date.

  • If it is your Second Scan (establishing your baseline – 3 month after first), or scan that was recommended by your report doctor, only fill out the paperwork if there are any changes. List only the changes since your previous scan.

  • If you have previously been diagnosed with breast cancer, please fill out the form that states that clearly. If you have never had breast cancer, ignore this form.

I look forward to our time together – and if you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to email us at info@druglessdrs.com before the day of thermography.

Our office number is 440-471-4200 if you have any questions!

What Is Breast Thermography?

We are so happy to offer breast thermography to our female practice members. In a recent blog, we shared our most recent episode on breast health and today we are going to look at strategies for healthy breasts, including thermography, and if it is something for you to consider having.

The Drugless Doctor’s Strategy for Healthy Breasts!

Why does this matter to you?

American Cancer Society 2017 stats- 1/8 women will develop breast cancer in their life time, 85% of them with no risk factors, a woman’s risk DOUBLES if they have a first degree relative (sister, mother, grandmother).

1/3 women treated will be treated unnecessarily with mammograms- false positives, unnecessary procedures.

Why? 3rd leading cause of death in America today is MEDICAL ERROR (John Hopkins study 2016).

healthybreasts .jpg

How our body works together- Liver & Lymphatic System

Cancer is caused by changes in a cell's DNA – its genetic "blueprint." Some of these changes may be inherited from our parents, while others may be caused by outside exposures, which are often referred to as environmental factors. Environmental factors can include a wide range of exposures, such as:

1. Lifestyle factors (nutrition, tobacco use, physical activity, etc.)

2. Naturally occurring exposures (ultraviolet light, radon gas, infectious agents, etc.)

3. Medical treatments (chemotherapy, radiation, immune system-suppressing drugs, etc.)

4. Workplace exposures (chemicals, solvents, sprays, cleansers, vapors, air quality)

5. Household exposures (herbicides, pesticides, paint vapors, gasoline other chemicals)

6. Pollution (xenohormones or estrogens in water, herbicides, pesticides; also toxic air)

Action Steps

Focus on green vegetables (decrease estrogen in your body).

Breast Thermography & Self-breast examination

Avoid soy, soda, liver stressing meds and canned food; eat organic foods.

Breast Thermography Part II

We recently began Breast Thermography as a service at our practice, the only wellness and health practitioner to offer this treatment in Northeast Ohio. Since we began, we have seen amazing results with the ladies who have sought out this drugless approach. Below is updated information regarding the procedure. Please share with your friends or family who would benefit and contact us to schedule a time that works for you.

Thermography (DITI) is a clinical test of physiology. It is a valuable procedure for alerting your doctor to changes that can indicate early stage of breast disease. DITI uses Digital Infrared Thermal Imaging technology to record and assess your breast health with no dangerous side effects. The benefits of Thermography (DITI) are that it offers the opportunity of earlier detection of breast disease than through breast self-examination, doctor examination, or mammography alone. It detects the subtle physiologic changes that accompany breast pathology, whether it is cancer or fibrocystic disease. Your doctors can then plan accordingly and lay out a careful program to further diagnose and/or monitor you during after any treatment. A certified Clinical Thermographer will record your history and take thermal images during a 20 minute private and discreet appointment. You will need two sets of imaging done approximately three months apart to establish a baseline of your stable pattern. Your thermograms will be kept on record and compared with your annual return to detect any changes in your pattern that may indicate breast pathology. Your results are reported quickly by certified doctors and include all color images taking during your test. It takes years for a tumor to grow, thus the earliest possible indication of abnormality is important to allow for the earliest possible treatment and intervention. DITI’s role in monitory breast health is to help in early detection and monitoring of abnormal physiology.
